5 Indications for Knee Surgery

Have you ever imagined that your next vacation in sunny Latin America may include a knee replacement? In this article, you will find out if you are a candidate for knee surgery in Mexico. 


The following are the indications:

Significant loss of function of the knee
The inability to stand, walk upstairs and do other physical activities. This may be caused by knee fracture or dislocations.

Severe arthritis (rheumatoid or osteo)
 The major causes of this are weight, age, heredity, gender, repetitive stress injuries, athletics and other illnesses. The treatment depends on the severity.

Tumors of the Knee
 These are tumors that develop around the knee in either the femur or (thigh) or tibia (shinbone) [see: Osteosarcoma]

Severe Pain
Various causes for severe knee pain include knee ligament injuries, knee cartilage tears, arthritis of the knee, rheumatoid arthritis of the knee, post-traumatic arthritis and osteoarthritis of the knee.

Osteonecrosis (dead bone) of the knee
Common symptoms include sudden pain on the inside of the knee, increased pain at night and with activity, swelling over the front and inside of the knee, heightened sensitivity to touch in the area, limited motion because of pain.
